Suffolk Constabulary will be using its social media channels in the build up to Christmas this year with its #KeepItChristmas campaign.
Our series of messages and guidance, issued via on the corporate Twitter and Facebook platforms, aims to remind potential perpetrators of the consequences of illegal actions this festive period and reminding everyone to ensure they enjoy themselves responsibly this festive season.
Police will be providing a visible and targeted presence throughout December with positive and proactive engagement. Key elements of this will be raising awareness on protecting themselves, their family and friends, their property and looking after their valuables at this time of year to ensure everyone has a crime free and happy Christmas.
County Policing Commander Chief Supt Marina Ericson from Suffolk Constabulary said: "It’s important to make clear if you do commit an offence, we will seek to bring a prosecution – illegal behaviour simply won’t be tolerated. Such a scenario can have a serious impact for you for the rest of your life, so make sure your Christmas this year is a memorable one for all the right reasons.
“To help people enjoy their celebrations, it is important that the police do everything we can to remind people how they can prevent falling prey to crime such as burglary or theft and having their Christmas spoilt.
"We live and work in a fantastic and safe county and Suffolk Constabulary wants to ensure we all #KeepItChristmas this year.”
Police and Crime Commissioner for Suffolk Tim Passmore said: “Christmas is such a joyous time it would be such a pity to spoil it by letting your guard down, so please keep yourself and your loved ones safe and protect your valuables.
"And to those who think they can take advantage of this season of goodwill to commit crime, be aware illegal behaviour will not be tolerated.”
